How to become an Non-Executive Director

This was an engaging event for people considering Non-Executive Director (NED) roles, or HR directors advising others on how to prepare for them. 

NED roles can offer interesting opportunities to apply your experience, support a cause or explore a new purpose, especially in retirement. We heard from two people who are happy to share their experience and tips on preparing to land the right role and what it means to be a NED.

Isabel Napper is a strategic business leader, NED and chair. Formerly a partner at law firm Mills & Reeve, she has 30 years' experience of advising a variety of businesses on commercial and IP issues.

Gary Hanson was an audit partner at BDO UK LLP for 35 years working with UK/US reporting and global organisations. He sat on their oversight committee for 8 years before launching the next stage of his career in July 2021 as a mentor, NED, investor, trustee and chair.
